Description

Lineage is a modern retelling of the Nativity Story. Maria and José struggle as migrant farmers amidst a mysterious pregnancy that complicates their relationship and their journey home.

Biblical Connection

The Nativity story is something that has been redone many times in film, but none (or very few) have adapted it into a modern day setting. Jesus was an immigrant from Heaven to Earth and his family were immigrants while in Egypt. I think casting his parents as poor, migrant farmers in the US are very culturally relevant to our modern times and how we often forget Jesus' humble origins.
