My Goliath

Description

David wants to hit his Dad. A fight he could never win. He must grow bigger and stronger to defeat his Goliath, but that might be too late. We all grow up to be like our parents and as David trains to beat his Dad, Mum see's his slow metamorphosis into the same tyrant that haunts them. She must take action to stop it.

Biblical Connection

My biblical source is David and Goliath. But it's more interesting to me if David and Goliath were related. The story is also inspired by 2 real life stories of friends who have a Goliath in their own lives. My best friend from school used to hate his Dad and always said how much he wanted to hit him. His Dad was horrible to everyone but especially hard on his son. I've watched my friend become his Dad over the years. I see many of the traits in him that he hated and it's hard to watch. We all become our parents in some way, whether we like it or not, and I love this as a theme. The second real life story is of a friend from work. She spent years in an abusive relationship. He used to bully her mentally until she finally plucked up the courage to leave him. However, she still lives with one of her sons and although he hates his Dad for how he treated his Mum, he bullies his Mum in the same ways his Dad used to. To this day she still hasn't escaped her Goliath.
