Strayed follows the characters of Blake, Ethan and Anna. Blake is rejecting the world as he knows it, ready to embark on his new found rebellious independence, and wants nothing more to do with his family. The pitch starts, with Blake breaking up with his long term girlfriend Anna, this comes as a complete shock to her, and she is heart broken. Ethan, Blake's older brother, is concerned by his brother's sudden change of behaviour. Ethan knows he's been given his inheritance money early, but was lead to believe he just wanted it, to buy a house and settle down. Ethan also knows, if his brother leaves, he'll be solely responsible to look after their father. Blake is determined to leave as soon as he can, however, he is aware that this could be Ethan's big chance with Anna, but he's willing to pay the price, for some wild living of his own.
The biblical connection for this pitch, is from the story of the prodigal son, Luke 15:11-32. My pitch lies between verses 12-13, the moments leading up to the younger son's (Blake's)departure to squander his wealth in wild living.
