The Pitch - Viewing

1 Minute 59 Seconds. This film will use two actors, a set of an indoor studio and the drama element will be combined with beautiful hand drawn/hand painted and photographed animation sequences. ‘In My Cocoon’ is partly a real life story of a friend of mine. I’ve combined it with an experience of having read a blog of someone who used to document blemishes and minute detail of their bodies. The point is we cannot see ourselves truly if we looking inwards. I completed an MA in Animation at Kingston University London in 2009 after earning a First Class BA in Fine Art in 2003. I have made other short films which express the importance of relationships poetically.

The church I am part of is taking part in 'The Big Read', a nationwide event reading through the bible starting in Genesis. My pastor was preaching on Genesis 1 and made the point that we can never actually see ourselves no matter how hard we try. This point struck me, and brought back memories of existential moments from my past, of looking in the bathroom mirror wondering who I am and if I really exist. We are in a very inward looking culture here in the west at this time and part of the gospel message for people we live amongst is that there is a God bigger than you and what you and your limited sight can see.
